by guest blogger Caleb

This week a supermarket in Philadelphia ran a weekly flyer promoting Black History Month and then had deal for seemingly Sterotypical Black foods such as hot sauce and collard greens.

How can we combat Hate speech that isn't even speech?

  1. Upon reviewing the ad page, I found it to be grossly irresponsible (promoting unhealthy foods to boot), as well as disrepectful in thinking that black consumers would feel welcomed to shop at that store in honor of Black History Month in thinking that black consumer would gravitate towards those specials. This stereotypical ad shows how far we still have to go. I'm amazed they didn't have a special on banquet fried chicken.

  2. LOL^^^^ "This stereotypical ad shows how far we still have to go. I'm amazed they didn't have a special on banquet fried chicken..." I guess I have a different approach on the add... I mean it is kind of upsetting to see but I see advertisement like this all the time. Caleb actually posed a great question "how do one combat hate speech that isn't speech?"... If this this add really bothered me...I probably wouldn't shop at there store. But I did laugh when I first read the article...just saying...
